Preliminary investigations found that Unit 4 of the Medupi power station in Limpopo exploded due to hydrogen mixing with air. Just last week Eskom announced that all units were up and running at the facility. The utility has meanwhile confirmed that the Unit 4 explosion caused extensive damage to the generator, which was caused by a deviation of procedure by employees.
