The parliamentary debate over South Africa’s energy crisis has reached boiling point. During yesterday’s session, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan criticised MPs for disregarding the latest State Capture Report that focussed on Eskom. The minister also dismissed the DA’s call to have a national state of disaster be declared on Eskom. Can the findings of the State Capture report on Eskom be swept under the rug, considering the state of the power utility and its reliability to supply energy to the country?
