The question of whether climate change is a direct effect of human failure to protect the Earth, or if it’s a sign of the end of days, is still being assessed.
Senior lecturer in the Department of Religion Studies at the University of Johannesburg, Sheikh Shahid Mathee was speaking as unusual weather patterns are hitting South Africa, and other parts of the world.
Mathee notes that the progression of human intellect over the years has added to its responsibility to take care of the natural environment.
And as humanity knows more than its forebears, but has still failed to act, humanity will feel the consequences of their inaction.
