Several suspects involved in the kidnapping of eight-year-old Abirah Dekhta are set to appear in court soon.
Dekhta was snatched 11 days ago from her scholar transport in Gatesville.
Prior to police finding her in a shack in Town 2, Khayelitsha; the community staged protests demanding her safe return.
According to Abirah’s father, the kidnappers made threatening calls demanding a ransom in the lead up to her safe return. The exact amount of the ransom is unknown.
Khayelitsha has now been deemed a hotspot area for kidnappers to hide their victims.
