He was tasked with investigating the claims by US Ambassador Reuben Brigety that the US had intelligence that arms had been loaded on the ship when it docked in Cape Town last year. His unfounded allegations sent US-SA relations in a tailspin. However, the latest information points to a European company actually loading food onto the ship instead of arms.
