Suspended Muslim Judicial Council President Shaykh Irafaan Abrahams can stand for re-election, but only if he is cleared in the disciplinary action being taken against him.
The MJC’s representative, Shaykh Mohammad West, has told Radio 786 that the reasons for the disciplinary action cannot be disclosed.
The body heads to an early Annual General Meeting this weekend.
It is set to elect new figures to the MJC’s executive committee, while that of president remains vacant until the process against Abrahams is concluded.
