Taxis will not be going on strike. This is the affirmation of the provincial taxi council, Santaco. It was in response to false messages doing the rounds this week. Communities have been anxious of a repeat of last week’s strike, that left thousands stranded. Taxis returned to the roads on Friday, following an extensive agreement with the City of Cape Town and Western Cape government. They also agreed that they will give 36 hours’ notice should they decide to go on strike. The initial cause of frustration from drivers centered on the impounding of their vehicles.
